As the team has been referring to
Content Objects (CO's) throughout the forum, I felt there might be a need to define what a CO is, since it is a term used internally at the core team, but not a formal nor widespread one, and might be subject to different interpretations.
First draft of a definitionA Content Object refers to a piece of Data, independent of its form, that is treated in a similar manner by the system. It is the 'Abstract Class' for Objects like:
- Message
- Contact
- File (or Document)
- Task
- Milestone
- Event
- And so on...
More CO's might be specified, as the system specializes support for other kind of data.
Specializations of a CO (e-mail and SMS specialization of the 'Message Class') are also CO's.
The system treats CO's similarly, with functions that allow all CO's to be viewed, usually edited, have permissions, have properties, be linked, be shared, etc.
So this is it. Hope you find it helpful. Contributions are welcome.
