Needs a Forum
« on: January 26, 2009, 11:12:16 pm »
Excellent tool, but it really needs work on the community aspect. It needs a central gathering location like a forum which has complete sections. The forum could also display the persons avatar, username, and position. It would help reduce the burden on the email system, and is more efficient than an email system.

You could use Notes as a Forum. Each forum would be a different workspace. You could create a Forum workspace and subworkspaces for each of the forums, or you could use your existing workspace structure. A user can the post a note and other users can follow up with comments. It displays the avatar and username. When adding the note you can notify users by email by subscribing them to the note. Now they'll be notified of the new note and of any further comments on the note.

This would only work if the text display of notes could be modified.  With a forum, I can change the font size, underline,
  • make lists
and all kinds of neat things.

Adding that ability to Notes would definitely make it more usable.  Currently because of the small Thai and Khmer fonts that are barely readable in notes, we have not been able to use the note feature for these languages.
