outlook and office sync
« on: January 20, 2009, 04:25:46 am »
Dear Opengoo,

first of version 1.1 is working much better then the old one.

secondly i have 3 questions.
Can we have a calender sync just like google calander sync?
Matching outlook with goo.

can the mail client leave a mail in the mailbox where it gets his mail.
Or does it already do that?

thirdly a client to directly store from office word files excel and such file.
the last request i have made earlier.
Any progress on that???

Hi. We have made progress on the first topic, though it is only asynchronous import/export.

I do not understand the second question (about e-mail).

No news on the Office Plugin.

If anybody wants to contribute coding of any of this suggestions that would be great. All would be very useful.

Hi don,

The mail client always leaves the mail at the server. On version 1.2 you will be able to configure the mail client to delete mail from the server after N days, but on version 1.1 it never deletes it from the server.

Thank you guys for the response.

ignacio was correct in his answer on the mail client in goo.
the default setting for leaving it on the server is just perfect!
Lets just say I like a backup.

about the calander sync how do you mean import/export?
should i export a file with the outlook calander and import it into goo?

when it works like that and not automatic it would be somewhat of a disappointment. Due to the time this would cost every day.

if i could program better i would help you but i am a Project Manager at Atos Origin and before that a windows and unix expert.
So i can't help with that :(

Sorry to disappoint you: currently it is a manual import/export. The import/export feature aims at solving migrations, not daily sync.

Of course automatic sync would be much much better.  ;)
