New Bug Tracker
« on: June 22, 2010, 05:26:19 pm »
After months of struggling with the forum as our bug tracker, we've decided it's time to move to a better alternative.

After some investigation we chose Mantis as bug tracker because it provides the flexibility and features we need.

We are now starting a transition period that will last until we release 1.7.0. We will be using both trackers until then (less than a week, we hope) and then close the bugs forum to use Mantis exclusively.

Our recommendation from now onwards is to use Mantis, which can be found here:
http://fengoffice.com/web/bugs

P.S. Mantis manual can be found here

Edit: Bugs Forum has been made Read-Only today. Read more.

Hi.

It's great and I want to say congratulation.

But please configure proper sender address of registration!!

Jun 23 10:34:57 ns postfix/smtpd[50]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from unknown[174.120.91.34]: 554 5.7.1 <admin@example.com>: Sender address rejected: Access denied; from=<admin@example.com> to=<taca@*.net> proto=ESMTP helo=<flash.fengoffice.com>

Sending from example.com domain mail address isn't good idea.   :(

Best regards.

I have found a bug in bugtracker ;) I can't add new bug!

I go to form http://www.fengoffice.com/web/bugs/bug_report_page.php, fill all request fields, press "Submit report" and got the error:
APPLICATION ERROR #11
A necessary field "Classification" was empty. Please recheck your inputs.

But I didn't see the field "Classification" on page http://www.fengoffice.com/web/bugs/bug_report_page.php and I fill all fields that needed:
 *Category
Reproducibility
Severity
*Summary
*Description
Steps To Reproduce
*Feng Office Versions
Module

Not the best start, but issues are fixed now.

@taca We've changed the from address to one in the fengoffice.com domain

@Murz  We worked around the mantis bug that did not let you report.

To both, thanks for reporting. It's been a long time since I used Mantis ...

Regarding features, let's keep them in the forums and outside Mantis. I am thinking of using IdeaTorrent but it requires PostgreSQL.
So if you know of any alternatives, please let us know.

Awesome! Thanks for the hard efforts and listening to your customers both paying and community! After 18+ years in IT Consulting (where among other things i implemented IT Service management solutions) I'm now running my own business, and I truly understand the need to constantly switch between priorities and adding features (or equipment in my case), vs. keeping existing capabilities working.

I would highly recommend using the same system for Bug Fixes and feature requests. This reduces the need to track in two places, and allows you to respond to "this is a bug" with "actually its a feature request" and still provide tracking and management.

Thanks garrans.
We're analyzing IdeaTorrent for features as it was designed for that purpose and provides better voting capabilities, but we'll consider your suggestion ...
