v1.6.2 permission bulk read/read&write permission bug
« on: May 16, 2010, 12:47:36 pm »
I have noticed this error in previous versions as well as in v1.6.2

when attempting to change permission rights to various workspaces:

1. when clicking on the link 'Read & Write', link or
2. when clicking on the link 'Read Only' link

to select all modules simultaneously, and confirming with 'Save Changes' button, not all workspaces get assigned/changed to to selected permission right.

In order to avoid this bug, a manual selection/clicking on all modules is necessary - no problems occur when editing permission rights in this fashion.

Can this be fixed in one of the following versions of the Feng Office?

Thanks.

Hi,
This is not a bug, the application does not allow to modify permission module selection for all selected workspaces automatically.

You should set permissions for every workspace separately, or set permissions on a parent workspace and then apply to its subworkspaces.

Thank you for the clarification!

But I am also interested to learn the purpose of the function 'Read & Write' and 'Read Only' link that is readily available there? What is it for then? When clicking on it, it places a check mark in all radial buttons below it, with the exception that the system does not pay any heed to it.

Thanks.

That link changes all permission per module to the value you choose.
i.e if you click on read only, the user will be able to read all system objects (notes, contacts, events, tasks, etc) of the currently selected workspace; he won't be able to write them.
If clicking on read&write he will be able to do both read and write

Dear Admin,

I have detected an error when using the link.

As you have indicated, that link should change all permission per module to the value chosen,

however, when the link is used (clicked on, i.e. read only) and these changes saved immediately thereafter, upon coming back to verify modified permissions, we have found that the script has not accepted the change. Permissions remain unchanged.

Is this is a bug? It appears to be, as the link/function is non-functional in our script. We have tested it under Administrator as well as well under a user account, both having full rights to change permissions of the workspace.

Thanks.

I am using FireFox mainly and our staff is instructed to do the same, as we found it to be most compatible, but to assist you further I have tested the same script today in 3 different browsers with the same outcome:

FireFox 3.63
Internet Explorer 7
Internet Explorer 8
See Monkey Portable Edition 2.0.4

Thank you very much. Feng Office team is doing a great job in improving the script.
