Storing and reporting custom data
« on: February 04, 2010, 01:19:50 pm »
Hi

I run a web hosting service.
We use a monthly spreadsheet to store debit order details for the client payment run.
I am trying to centralise all processes in Feng.
So, I need a way to store structured data - bank, account, amount etc per project (not per client, as a client may have several projects).
I then need a CSV export of all bank details.
I don't want to use a spreadsheet, as this makes one data source for all clients - I would prefer the data to be broken up per project and then brought together using a report.
I am also keen to be able to use comments/some for of auditing to show when the debit order record for a project was last updated.

Any ideas?

--edit--
I could of course hold unstructured content in a Note - bank, account, amount but that feels a little messy

Thanks
Brendon

I think that's a pretty big project. Wouldn't a database be more suited?

Hi

Thanks for responding.

At the moment my company data is in several separate systems, with their own databases.  Maintaining these is a nightmare.

Feng holds the promise of a single centralised system (at least for my needs).

It looks like there are only two issues that need resolving:

1. Improved access to custom properties - there are lots of posts about this
2. Universally available CSV export options as part of the report framework

Resolution of these issues would be beneficial for most users under a wide range of applications of Feng.

Regards
Brendon
