Task Descriptions in Task Notifications
« on: November 11, 2009, 08:30:42 pm »
my coworkers are complaining to me that when they get an email stating that they have a new task assigned to them, it has next to no information and they are forced to log into goo, just to see what the task is.

At some point I think I'm going to have to hack the task notifier so that it will email users with:

Name of Task
Task Description
Assigned to
Created by (and timestamp)
List of linked objects (maybe links into opengoo)
Due Dates
WorkSpace
Subscribers

Very good idea. And will be good to see the changes of previos version:
For example:

Name of Task
Task Description
Assigned to
Created by (and timestamp)
List of linked objects (maybe links into opengoo)
Due Dates:
10.11.2009
> changed to:
15.11.2009
WorkSpace
Subscribers

And do the diff for old and new "Task description", like this:
Task Description:
1) Do the first thing
- 2) Do the second thing
+ 2) Do the second important thing
3) Do the third thing

My guess is that an email gets sent for each task regardless of if it's a subtask of something, but that does make me think that if the task has a parent that should be in the email as well...  oh and so should the milestone if applicable.

Milestone: blah
Parent Task: blah blah
Task: blah blah blah

Description: super blah

(clicking on the tasks or parents takes you into goo to view that object)

I really like the idea of telling people what something was before changing it and then what it is now.  This would be a great addition to the email that gets sent to Subscribers

Sorry, I posted this exact need the other day, I did not find your post beforehand.

If there's a way to hack the notifier, I'd be glad to help.  I just need to be pointed in the right direction.

it's on my 'todo' list..  :-[

Right now my company has me so busy that we don't even have the time to do self promotion (like actually have a website, pretty sad for a web marketing company)
