Lock parts of a document when editing collaboratively
« on: August 17, 2009, 11:42:51 am »
For example, you would highlight a paragraph that you don't want anyone else editing, or, that you only want certain people editing, and then right-click, "Lock". Or something similar.

Hope you consider this. It could be useful, if you don't want someone accidentally or maliciously deleting your document.

You can check in your files before editing them and you can set up the system to automatically check them in when in edition. This way the whole document is protected for another member edition.

Nice idea, but this will never happen.

Like carcam says, use checkout/checkin, it is the standard way of doing things.

I wouldn't say never, but most unlikely on the short run.  :)

I doubt we can find enough sponsors for this soon. Volunteering coders might be more likely... who knows.

I'll bet you a pint of beer Conrado - since never is a very long time I'd say it won't happen in the next 5 years. :)

Well August 28, 2014 is coming up fast. Is this feature yet implemented? If not you still have time ;)

Oh no!

Where are you nowadays, Pet?

I should know so that I decide whether I FedEX or buy you the beer in person.

These are nice tools when editing but can we also incorporate some of the cooler things from MS Word?
