Mail is not sent
« on: August 06, 2009, 07:27:01 am »
After installing, I tried to send a mail to one of my other mail adresses.
The GUI shows 'loading' for a long time, and then nothing.
No message, that mail has been sent.
In the other account the mail never arrives (I check this using an other mail client).

Hi,
Which version did you install (1.5 or 1.5.1) ?
Are you using POP or IMAP ?
do you have the debug mode enabled ? if not you can enable it in /config/config.php , then try again and look for an error log in /cache/log.php.

Hello,

Thanks for your quick respons. I could have been more specific about my problem....
My version is 1.5 (without the extra '.1'). How did I miss the newest release? I downloaded the file only last monday!

I have tried this using both the php delivery option as well as the smtp option. With the last one, I expirimented a bit with the authentication settings.
While doing this, I checked the mail settings both in the 'general' screen as well as in the users mail account settings.
Nothing helped.

Do you know whether you have any ports blocked on your server? Do you have any other email web apps that do work? Did you try the "Test mail setting" tool in "Administration" / "Tools"?

Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for the tip. To me, the mystery even gets bigger  :).

I tried the 'test mail settings' option. The test mail arrives (very fast).
Still, when I send a mail through the e-mail screen to the same mail account, it does not arrive.
Still the same: "Loading....' for a while, then nothing. The program does not return to the mail list, the written mail remains opened.
I still had no opportunity to try the debug option; I cannot reach the server from my work place.

Maybe there's something wrong in the email account settings. The "test mail settings" tool uses system email settings (Administration / Configuration / Mailing). The email account uses the settings you defined for the email account (Email / Account / Edit Account / <your account> / SMTP Settings).

Hi,
The debug option did not deliver any information.....

About the mail settings:
In the general settings, the sending method is set to 'default PHP', not SMTP.
In the account settings, I can not set this options, so I assume, the account inherits this option from the general settings.

Still mailing does not work on my site. In addition to the above: the sent mail appears in the 'sent' folder (but is not received by the recipient).

What could migrating from version 1.5 to 1.5.1 change in my problem?
