Database error? Blank page upon first log in
« on: February 19, 2013, 11:41:57 pm »
I am getting the dread "In order to continue, you need to create dimensions (directly from database)".

I've tried deleting the feng_office folder and files, then deleting the database and user, re-creating database and user, then re-copying and running the install again.

Always the same result, I've tried it half a dozen times and always get a blank page with the company name in the upper left corn after first logging into the administrator account. Trying to view administrator settings results in same thing, just a blank page.

Latest download of FengOffice
Apache 2.2.23
PHP 5.3.20
MySQL 5.3.30

Thank you for the welcome! I did indeed check that thread out. I double made  sure the core dimensions were checked during the installation. It returns no errors during Step 4 of the installation and reports schema and data loaded into core_dimensions plugin. I've tried deleting it all and starting over but same thing happens every time.

Hmmm odd! Have you looked into all the requirements first just in case?
www.fengoffice.com/web/wiki/doku.php/installation:server_reqs

Does the MySQL user have permissions to write in the DB?

Best regards,
Francisco

I get the following message during the installation process step 2: Environment checks:
Code: [Select]
    OK: PHP version is 5.3.20
    OK: 'mysql' extension is loaded
    OK: 'gd' extension is loaded
    OK: 'simplexml' extension is loaded
    OK: /config is writable
    OK: /cache is writable
    OK: /upload is writable
    OK: /tmp is writable
Is that what you mean by the requirements? I created a database, created a user for the database, and then gave the user all privs for that database. When I check the size of the database after the install process finishes it reports as 11.44MB. I can view the database using phpmyadmin and it appears to be normal.

I also get the following report during install Step 4: Finish:
Code: [Select]
Database connection has been established successfully
    InnoDB storage engine is supported
Tables created in 'oohsilve_fengoffice'. (Executed queries: 91)
Initial data imported into 'oohsilve_fengoffice'. (Executed queries: 32)
    Schema created for plugin core_dimensions
Initial data loaded for plugin 'core_dimensions'.
    Schema created for plugin workspaces
Initial data loaded for plugin 'workspaces'.
    Schema created for plugin mail
Initial data loaded for plugin 'mail'.
Configuration data has been successfully added to the configuration file
    File installed_version.php created successfully

I'm having some trouble figuring out what the deal is here.

Could you try again from scratch with a new DB and using fo_ as the prefix?

Then please let me know how it goes.

Thanks.

Best regards,
Francisco

I tried what you suggested but am still getting the same result. I would show you a screen shot but I am not allowed to post links and the upload folder is full whatever that means.

I know it has been a long time, but I'd like to talk about this topic again, sorry.

So, i got the same problem with every user, except my account. Could it have something to do with some user permissions in the database?
My shared hosts meets the requierements, Core dimensions are installed and I put feng_ as db-prefix

It does seem like it is a server related issue, or a corrupted database.
You can always give a go at our Demo (demo.fengoffice.com) or create a 30 days free trial in our servers and then consider whether to use our Cloud service or OnPremise one, where our experts could help you setting up the server.

Francisco

I am experiencing the very same thing. We have been using Feng Office on three different servers for many years and after upgrading to 2.6 we get a blank screen. We have tried all the possible solutions to resolve the issue, but with no success.

Feedback

Brand new installation using 2.6RC works fine. Upgrade from 2.5 even 2.6Beta using 2.6RC results in a blank page with login.

Thx

You absolutely have to have fo_ as the db-prefix for it to work.
