Send mail fails, blank error

I've tried every configuration of sending mails, but I keep failing on send and it says

Error:

This email, or another one located in your 'Outbox' folder, has not been sent because there seems to be a problem with your email account settings or email server. The error message is: ''
We're on 1and1 host, who says they shouldn't have any conflict with Swift Mailer.

I seem to remember something similar happening (vaguely). It seems basic, but check the posting:

Otherwise, post a screenshot (blanking out the important, juicy details) of both the Mail configuration (from Administration >> Configuration >> Mailing) and the mail settings for the user.

This could mean a lot of things.. so you should look at your cache/log.php file for further details. Remember to turn the 'DEBUG' to 'true' at the config/config.php
