Google Calendar
« on: November 12, 2008, 02:37:11 pm »
I already have a google calendar that is very up to date. I like this product but is there a way to sync the two? I don't want to manually put everything in again.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like this capability is available, yet.  I'm sure it is probably on their roadmap

It is planned, and we have already seen that it wouldn't be too much work. Maybe it will be ready for 1.1 or 1.2

I personally don't really like how OpenGoo has its calendar event creation mechanism, as its not `quick enough` for me to replicate like Sunbird/Thunderbird[with addons].  That said, however, the wife and I use OpenGoos calendar now instead of Google Calendar as she's had issues with it.  I very much do look forward to having the ability to get Sunbird/Thunderbird[with addons] to sync up with OpenGoo so I can use one of these clients to update the calendar at home without too much trouble. :]

I got kind of tired of waiting, so I went and made my own code on this problem.

You will be happy to know, I've spent a couple of minutes slapping together some Python code to work with OpenGoo's MySQL Database and the Google API.

Currently this script purely checks the MySQL DB for New Project Events or Tasks, and uploads these to your Google Calendar.  I will try and spend some time to make it bi-directional, and synchronize changes on both sides, but, if you'd like this for your own use, shoot me a PM.

It would be great to have this feature as it makes OpenGoo even more powerful! More Google Calendar users will likely to try up opengoo  :D

Yes please.
I've tried to upload an ICS file on several occasions and it hasn't worked at all.
So if your method gives me a basic batch transfer function, I'd like to try it!

I doubt that to be honest. Then again, I prefer to keep most personal info from google. ;)

I'm still banged for time constraints, you know how it is lately - anyway, I'm still on uni-directional, for New events only, I've also coded, as a side note, something similar for the OTRS Help desk system...figured I'd let you know, I really don't have a clue when I'll have spare time to work in bi-directional again, unless someone wants to help me out with this one.

Any chance we can get our hands on this code?

Would be nice if you just attached your file or wrote a tutorial on here.

I'm willing to fund this project, too.

I want to see my calendar on my Iphone which is synced with Google already.
