Feature requests / Can dates *please* default in the current year?
« on: February 08, 2010, 04:56:39 pm »
Having to type a complete date really wastes keystrokes and time.

Can we please have all date fields default in the current year if not supplied?

So typing 1/1 would at this point default to 1/1/10 when the field lost focus...

Feature requests / Re: Is Feng Office going anywhere?
« on: February 08, 2010, 04:55:21 pm »
Being a veritable noob, I've been trolling the forums quite a bit looking for help and trying to learn.

I have to admit I've also been struck by the number of posts that go unanswered.  Especially the posts from people offering to help code a certain feature if they can just get pointed in the right direction.

Does LDAP also imply it works with Active Directory?

I like your idea, and the ability to post messages to users would also be awesome.

How To's / How to view more than 5 users?
« on: February 06, 2010, 10:07:26 am »
I have many users, and soon will have many more, which creates several problems...

1.  Only being able to see 5 at a time is very limiting, can I see 20?
2.  There's no way to jump to the "M's" for instance, I have to guess what page they might be on.  Is there a way to navigate by name?
3.  Every time I make a change, it takes me back to the first page of users and I have to jump back into the pages, again guessing which one the person of interest might be on.

This is adding quite a bit of work :(  Is there an easier way that I just have not found?

How To's / Re: How to tell what users are currently logged in?
« on: February 06, 2010, 10:04:57 am »
I searched the forum several times and didn't find any results, so I thought I would post.  I hope it's not a rehash of a much-discussed feature.  Is there another thread I could refer to?

How To's / Re: How to edit the "getting started widget"
« on: February 05, 2010, 08:46:14 pm »
There should be a "Message of the Day" file that is automatically "included" and displayed when all users log on.

As an admin, I need to recycle the system from time to time or alert people that it will be going down after normal hours, but there is no convenient way to do that currently...

It would be great if we had a MOTD file or an Announcement file that would display at the top of each workspace until dismissed by the user...

How To's / Re: How can our team members see the "context" of a task?
« on: February 05, 2010, 08:43:49 pm »
Sorry nobody answered your question, and it may be too late.

Based on my also newby understanding of Feng, I would have to use the "Tags" feature to add context to each task, much like I've used tags to add the "Getting Things Done" or GTD context and action status to each task.

How To's / How to tell what users are currently logged in?
« on: February 05, 2010, 08:12:26 pm »
Is there a way for me to know who is currently logged into the system - as much as a stateless environment like the web would allow?

As the administrator, I don't want to be resetting the system while users are logged on,...

Many thanks for your ideas!

How To's / Re: The Personal Workspace Can't be Deleted - why not?
« on: February 05, 2010, 08:07:40 pm »
Sorry to reply to a topic that is a few months old, but how about creating a new workspace called "Public", then when you create new users, assigning this as their default workspace?

I tested it enough to know that it works while you are creating multiple users, but I don't know if it would work for all usages - worth a shot though.

This is using 1.6.2.

New Community Members / Hello from around the world
« on: February 05, 2010, 07:51:35 pm »
Hello, new company and new user of Feng Office, with operations globally.

We are excited to be trying Feng Office installed on our own server, and we are enjoying many of the features.  We also are looking forward to the impending addition of spreadsheet(s) et. al.

We are working on data extraction and gantt charting, as well as general familiarity with the system.

We will be posting in many of the threads and asking some questions, but wanted to start with a brief introduction.

Thank you!
