Feature requests / In-Out Status Board
« on: November 26, 2008, 12:14:01 pm »
How about a simple In-Out status board where users could post if they are in the office, or out of the office with a small note?

Example, I would mark myself as out of office, with a note "Client meeting, back by 3"

Some predefined or user-defined messages would be bonus, like "at lunch" or "gone for the day"

Maybe for #2 it could be as simple as adding a task icon next to the date on the top of the calendar, and when you click it, it opens a new task entry with that date plugged in as the due date?

oh yea, for time keeping, tasks also have a "start/stop" for time tracking... so you could create a task under a client workspace, use the start/stop (basically a stop watch it seems?) to track the time, then transfer that to a document for totaling up later.

eGroupWare has the following view options for their calendar that might be nice to have...

Day View
Four Day View (today and next 3 days)
Week with Weekend
Week without Weekend

They also have a Planner view which lets you view a grid of users and dates to try and find common openings for scheduling meetings and such.

Actually, a simple document may be the best for #2?  They are working on a spreadsheet module, so eventually that may be better, you could just enter date, start and stop times and it would add up billable hours for you.

#3 Tasks and Milestones would likely be the best bet...?

#1 I think by refining he means using workspaces.

I'm in Construction and looking to use this for client collaboration. I have a workspace "clients", and then inside that I have workspaces for different clients, and then inside those client workspaces I have a workspace for specific projects. For example...  we've been doing a number of projects for Old Country Buffets, by setting it up this way I narrow down my contact lists according to the specific projects.

Each location has the info on the store managers we work with there. Then in the OCB client workspace is our general contacts with corporate office.

The same thing for tasks, calendar entries, etc. Enter them under the specific project, but by looking at the client workspace, I can get an overview of all the projects under that client.

How To's / Re: Seeing each other's calendars

And of course as soon as I posted this, I remembered how I had done it before.

Nevermind :>

How To's / Seeing each other's calendars
« on: November 25, 2008, 03:36:55 pm »
I have a workspace set up for each user. Each of these is a sub-space of a company workspace.

If someone adds a calendar item to their workspace, I can see it on the overview page for the user, and the company. But if I go to the calendar... it only shows my calendar, no matter what workspace I'm on.

Why can't I see the calendar of the other user when viewing their workspace? I have all permissions turned on.

should also make it where you can upload your own icons, simple gif or png format files. Maybe just adding them to an "icons" folder via FTP and OpenGoo recognizes them?

Ideas / Re: 2008 - Ideas for the future of OpenGoo

What do you think about skype notifications on new events.

It would be nice to subscribe to special events in workspaces and then autom. be notified by skype when something changes. So you will allways be informed and must not login to OGOO and check status on projects manually.

P.S.:
Ebay does this (skype notification) when an auction is about to end.

Not to dis skype, cause I do use it, but maybe a better alternative (at least to start) is XMPP notification to send notices to gtalk and other jabber accounts?

How To's / Re: Contact List - Workspace Breadcrumbs

This worked great...
What other files can I edit to do this to the listings on the overview, notes, tasks and other tabs...?

Feng Office 1 / Re: Adding Contacts

thanks for the update, if I get a chance to play with the lang file this weekend I'll post it here or something.

Also, just in case it hasn't been noted before, if you add a new company from the add contact page, it doesn't seem to put the company into any workspace.

If you're in another workspace, you need to go to ALL and find the company and edit it to add it to a workspace.

Feng Office 1 / Adding Contacts
« on: November 20, 2008, 03:08:21 pm »
Ok, these aren't really bugs... but maybe inconsistencies/missing items?

When entering a new contact, there doesn't seem to be a way to assign them to workspaces. I have to save the contact, then go back and edit the workgroups. Yes, it defaults to the workspace I'm currently in, but would be nice to have the option right away as I will often be adding folks to multiple workspaces right off the bat.

Also, I think there could/should be some more consistency in layout between entering contact and company info.

If you enter a new contact, as I mentioned, there's no way to edit workspaces.
When you view a contact, the option to do so is under Actions.
When you edit a contact the button for "Assign to workspace" is up near the "Back" button.
When you view a company, there is no option for workspaces under Actions and when you "update" a company the option for workspaces is under the company name.

Like I said, these aren't bugs... maybe you need a category for layout tweeks or something... or "usability". I dunno. These are more just inconsistencies that if looked at will help give OpenGoo a more professional/polished look and feel.

Are things like how you "edit" a contact, but "update" a company handled in the language files? that an other little things like how some action items use title case, others only cap the first letter of first word would be easily fixed, and may be a way I could even help contribute...?

Feng Office 1 / Tabbing Between Contact Fields in Firefox
« on: November 20, 2008, 12:18:23 pm »
In IE, I can easily tab between data fields when entering info for a new contact... not so easy in my preferred browser, Firefox.

Hopefully something can be tweeked to fix this...?

Feature requests / User Log
« on: November 19, 2008, 01:42:46 pm »
How about a log of log-ins?

just a simple list of users and the date/time they last logged in would be fine, but would also be nice to keep a history so you could see how often someone has been logging in, etc.

How To's / Re: Permissions within a group
« on: November 18, 2008, 02:35:42 pm »
That's where I'm trying to do this.. I go to Admin > Users > User1 > Permissions

I created a group called "Bauer Companies"
I had already moved the private workgroup for each individual user to be a sub-space under that one and made it so everyone could see each others.

I then decided to try removing it, making a private space for everyone again, but then went back to make further changes... now under permissions for each user, under that Bauer Companies workspace, my space shows up as checked for each user, but none of their individual spaces show up as an option to check or uncheck, not even the one for the user I'm currently looking at.
