How To's / Separate attachement from email
« on: October 30, 2011, 04:45:19 pm »
Hi all,

Sorry if this has been asked/answered, I searched but didn't come up with anything.

Is there a way to remove an attachment from the email once it is retrieved into FO? We have customers that email graphics & artwork (samples, sketches, etc). The attachments are stored elsewhere (different repository system) and we would like to keep ONLY the email portion in FO.

Is this possible or have I missed something somewhere?

Announcements / Re: Feng Office 2.0 BETA 2 has been released!

Hey moorezilla,

Thanks for that. My thoughts as well.

From going through the forum, I found a number of questions on the subject with no definitive answer. It seems that FO forum is a little slow and I wonder if people are shying away, waiting until 2.0...

Tim

EDIT: for everyone wondering (myself included until 5 minutes ago), I just read on the Feng Blog:
Conrado says:

@Joseph: I wouldn’t recommend attempting a migration at this point. We will eventually release a migration script.

Now before we all start whining and whinging about "But Conrado WHEN....?", let's give them them space to get it out of beta.

I think this is a pretty firm commitment to supporting not only their paying customers (paying as in "OnSite or sky versions - let's not start yammering about "But this is supposed to be FOSS... bla bla blah") as well as those of use enjoying the Feng community version!

Good work Team Feng!

Francisco, Ignacio, Conrado & cabeza (& others)

I think you can help a big part of the community by a short post.

It'll be great when FO 2 is rolled-out, but in the meantime - will you be providing an upgrade path/route from 1.7.5 to 2.0?

Even if it takes an extra month or two, at least if we know we're not driving down a dead-end street, a lot of anxiety will be put to rest.

Thanks,
Tim

Seems to work fine now

How To's / Re: Email not trashing
« on: October 24, 2011, 05:11:13 am »
The word "cannot" should NEVER be in an admin or someone with responsibility's vocabulary.

....

Not sure if it does the trick yet - I'm waiting on someone to send something to the trash first to see.  But this should disable it.

Krashnik, great job, This did the trick!

I thought I'd reply and update this to help anyone else caught in this endless repeating loop that keeps repeating endlessly over and over repeating itself again and again (you get the idea  ;))

How To's / HELP!! Drowning in emails.....
« on: October 24, 2011, 03:54:08 am »
This is weird - and as no one else has asked about it, I obviously missed something somewhere. (We're running FO 1.7.5)

Our problem is when we delete an email,
1. the system sends a message saying we've sent it to the trash
2. when we delete the message telling us we've sent it to the trash......
 ??? ???
3. we get another message telling us that the message (the previous one telling us we sent it to the trash) has been sent to the trash.....

The latest subject header looks like this:
"Email 'Email 'Email 'RE: test' has been sent to trash' has been sent totrash' has been sent to trash by Admin."

Heeeelppppp....

My take on FO:

I read messages about people yammering and complaining, but for an Open Source package I think you guys are doing a great fantastic job!!!

Some of these complainers figure that just because it's free no one should make money, oh ya, that's right it IS free. if you want FOSky or prioirity support you pay for - what's the problem with that???

Looking forward to seeing FO 2 pull out of beta (any hints or dates in mind??)

Thanks,
Tim

Hey Denis,

Thanks for that.

Actually I was looking at Joaquin's response (two threads before) linking to:
forums.fengoffice.com/index.php?topic=14332.0

This looked more in depth. I'd like to know how to make the change, but understanding the mechanics of it, will help to understand it on a larger scope.

Cheers,
Tim

That's what I'm hoping for. Even if it's not possible to "truly" integrate with FO, but if the AjaXplorer interface shows in a FO tab and the login credentials from FO can be used to automatically logon to AjaXplorer - then I'll be pretty happy.

Hi Francisco,

Nice to hear back. I understand about your team, I think you have already a great job with FO.

I think (and this is a big favor) if some of the community were able to post back some more of their ideas and how they integrated solutions (including what they did inside of FO to integrate them), it would help the rest of the community to be able to try and include their solutions as well.

I think the community is strong, we just need a little more push to help each other out.

Cheers,
Tim

Hey guys, sounds interesting, but unfortunately no Spanish in this boy's blood!

Can anyone help out a linguistically challenged user and post an English How-to...

Thanks,
Tim

Okay, so in hind-sight referring to it as WebDAV was maybe a little misleading. It basically is a means to access files on a server (ftp-like)

Here's my dilemma at this point.

I've tried to follow the Hello World example, but AjaXplorer has some issue with redeclaring php classes   ???

Anyhow, does someone have a simple example to create a new tab in FO, containing a browser wind (I guess I could hobble together an index.php that would submit a POST getting the username/password from the FO database to log into the AjaXplorer interface.

I looked at the allenlook post regarding ZenPhoto, but as another poster commented, the ZenPhoto How-To was posted, but what happens AFTER that is leaving us bewildered.

I think FO has fantastic potential, I think it just needs a little growth on the community side (for more community support  :P) as well as seeing the dev's in here more often with a little more helping hand.

Cheers,
Tim

This seems a little more involving than thought. I've built a tab using the "Hello World" example, but things still don't work  :(

If anyone has the talent or thought-process to figure out how to integrate AjaXplorer into FO (including the ability to link to and share files from directly within FO, I'm willing to pony up some $$$.

Any takers?

Getting Started / WebDAV alternative?? AjaXplorer??

Hey all,

Brand new here, just downloaded FO, installed it and works like a charm!! Kudos to the Feng-meisters!  ;)

Well actually the installation botched the first time (I installed FO 2 beta, without realizing it....)

I was looking to figure out a better system of file Storage. We have several GB's of customer art files, collateral, etc that need to be accessible. I needed to figure a way to keep these files outside of FO, but still accessible from FO.

Came up with AjaXplorer (www dot ajaxplorer.info), looks pretty slick!

Now then, I read a few FO postings about Hello World, integrating, etc, and frankly, by the time I get this figured out we'll be up to FO v5 and probably using neural-connectors....
(Although I guess I'm not that bad. I read the cnet review from Matt... I wonder if this guy tried downloading Apache and wondered why he couldn't use it to browse the web  ::))

Anyhow, has anyone looked/seen AjaXplorer and any thoughts. I'd be interested to hear them before I delve deeper into the great unknown...

Tim

EDIT:
BTW, this isn't a plug for AjaXplorer, I just really like the looks of it ;)
