Getting Started / Quick Question re version
« on: February 02, 2012, 01:10:25 pm »
I want to install a working version for real data !   Do I stick with 1.75 or go for the 2.0 beta 3?   If I stick with 1.75 will I be able to upgrade to 2.0 easily enough in the future? or is 2.0 beta 3 stable enough for me to use in a real environment?  :)

Is the following config possible anyway by utilizing workspaces and permissions.. or will I need to install multiple copies one for each sub company and will that cause problems if they are all on the one host?

Organization Top
-  1 user.. with full admin access to all configurations etc..

Subsidiary Company 1
      Client  Company 1
         Project 1
         Project 2
         Project 3

      Client Company  2
         Project 1
         Project 2 etc..

Subsidiary Company 2
     Client  Company 1
         Project 1
         Project 2
         Project 3

 Client Company  2
         Project 1
         Project 2 etc..

With regard to users and permission etc.. Each Subsidiar Company Admin User will be able to access everything within that sub company, workspaces etc.. and create users for that sub company or sub client.. but won't have access to workspaces or any details of other sub companies, including their names etc.. Hope you can follow.

I'd love to be able to achieve the above with one installation but have a feeling I'll need a separate install for each sub company?  any bright ideas on the most efficient way to achieve the above scenario?

many thanks

How To's / keeping customizations after upgrade..
« on: November 26, 2010, 12:39:40 pm »
I plan on making a few little tweaks to the software and am wondering (particularly interested in tips from seasoned customizers !) what's the most efficient way to keep track of these in the case of an upgrade? ie. so that I don't have to re-create them from scratch I can just copy the files over maybe?  tweeks will mainly be in things like language, colours etc.. is there a "best practice" way to do this or do I  just need to re-do everything whenever it's upgraded?
