This seems like a ridiculous amount of work to update to the new stable version... :/

How To's / Re: Tasks, Subtasks, & Templates
« on: March 08, 2011, 11:50:12 pm »
Thanks for clarifying, Francisco.  I'm still working on my [rather lengthy] task and won't be in a position to copy it into a template for a bit yet.  I'll keep my eyes open for the next release!

Your reply does not really answer my question, but does lead me to understand that the next release should be more intuitive?

How To's / Tasks, Subtasks, & Templates
« on: March 07, 2011, 04:02:47 pm »
The tasks and subtasks are amazingly easy to use and organize.  However, when I try to create a task template to recreate frequently used groups of tasks, I can't seem to get subtasks to work correctly.

The wiki (http://www.fengoffice.com/web/wiki/doku.php/tasks) contains outdated information, which doesn't help.  (And what are the parameters for?)

Any suggestions or guidance on how to get my brain around it would be greatly appreciated!   ::)

How To's / Re: Workspace Security?
« on: March 03, 2011, 11:56:01 pm »
Since there is already an encryption algorithm in place (for the passwords), how difficult would it be to expand it to include the 'custom properties' (custom data fields) added to object types through the administration panel?

(See attached mockup of what it might look like)

That makes sense.

I think Git will be a better option, anyway.  ;)

Don't get discouraged; you've got a great idea.  Just work on it and slowly developers and users will migrate to it.

OK, so it's been a while since I started this thread, and have since moved my install to a SSL server, which, as I understand it, encrypts transmitted information (sent or received), but you are saying that the info in the database itself is NOT encrypted?

Are there any plans to encrypt some or all of the database, or will we always be dependent on the admins to not snoop through it?   ::)

This issue was brought back to my attention through the use of a small app (PHPChain) built specifically for storing encrypted passwords, and it would be great if it (or something similar) could be incorporated into Feng.

Ideas / Re: Quick way to add Weblinks
« on: December 13, 2010, 06:21:29 pm »
This would be very handy. I think it could perhaps be done more portably (not browser-specific) with a Javascript bookmarklet like ReadItLaterList and Google Bookmarks have:

http://readitlaterlist.com/bookmarklets
http://www.google.com/support/chrome/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=100215

The cumbersome nature of manually adding in bookmarks is probably the last remaining obstacle to my dropping everything else in favor of FengOffice!

Being able to drag-n-drop and/or add a button to the toolbar would be awesome.  One message asked how it would know which category to deposit it?  Using a button to quick add would connect you to you specific account, and a dialog box would allow you to easily add notes or tags, and choose a subcategory.

Would be similar to other open source bookmarking apps:

I like this idea.  For us firefox users, it might also be easy to view (cache/copy/link) the fav.ico of our saved web addresses.  It breaks up the lineality of the page, and provides a quick visual reference to the site I am looking for.

Feature requests / Address Book
« on: January 17, 2010, 12:14:41 am »
I like the address book functionality, but it feels a bit cumbersome at times with having to go through the different screens.

Although it would be a low priority, I would suggest perhaps looking at "The Address Book" to see if it might be a useful integration.  I've been using it for several years and love it's straightforward interface.

Any one else have any experience using this app?

Installation problems / Upgrading vs New Install?
« on: August 12, 2009, 04:19:28 pm »
Hello-

I'm currently running 1.0 rc3, and past attempts to upgrade to each new release as they come out have consistently failed for a variety of reasons.  I am about to try again with the new version, but am wondering if it might not be less frustrating to just do a new install?

If so, how can I go about exporting all the users, accounts, documents and weblinks from the old install and into the new one?

Thanks!

Installation problems / Upgrade to 1.4.1 from 1.0 RC3
« on: June 14, 2009, 11:10:02 pm »
Hello-

I am trying to upgrade to the new version, but 1.0RC3 is not an option on the 'upgrade from' list.  If I choose 1.0 to 1.4.1, it returns the following error:

    * Config file found and loaded.
    * File '/config/config.php' exists and is writable
    * Folder '/config' exists and is writable
    * Folder '/public/files' exists and is writable
    * Folder '/cache' exists and is writable

    * Extension 'gd' is loaded

    * Test query has been executed. Its safe to proceed with database migration.
    * Failed to execute DB schema transformations. MySQL said: Duplicate column name 'paused_on'
    * Error upgrading to version 1.1

The log file shows this error as well:

"Session "default" started at 2009-06-15T02:07:31+0000
#1 DEBUG: SQL ERROR: Query failed with message 'Unknown column 'trashed_by_id' in 'where clause'' - SELECT * FROM `og_companies` WHERE `trashed_by_id` = 0 AND (`client_of_id` = '0')

Any suggestions?

I tried two different ways: first, unzipping the files locally, removing the recommended subdirectories/files the ftp'ing them to my site.  This resulted in the error above.

After restoring the previous install, I uploaded the entire file to a tmp directory, unzipped it, then copied the files over the existing install.  Same results.

I attempted the upgrade four separate times, all with similar results.  I guess I'll wait for the next release and then try again.  :(
