Feature requests / Re: Recurring tasks

Whole hearted agreement with newleaf.

Can we get a version number when we could expect this?

Feature requests / Re: Small & easy but helpful task feature request
« on: April 30, 2009, 10:43:13 pm »
For task feature requests, I would suggest

1.  The ability to filter by more than two categories, specifically - Workspace AND milestone AND user assigned AND assigning person.

2.  Currently we can filter tasks in two levels of status.  I would suggest adding a third and forth. 1. pending 2. completed, 3. active 4. inactive (meaning the start date is still future).  I have assigned 50 tasks for a project and plotted when each should begin, but they all shop up actively.  Some don't begin for a couple of months.

3.  The ability to activate a task on completion of its sub-task.  I assign someone to translate a document and I assign the task of editing the document to someone else.  The editor doesn't need to see his task as active until the first task is complete.

Feature requests / Re: Parent workspace show sub workspace content
« on: April 30, 2009, 10:34:27 pm »
Regarding permissions, I would not want sub-workspaces to automatically inherit the permissions of their mother workspace.  The option might be nice, but making it automatic would not be helpful to our organization.

How To's / Re: Email Reminders - What kind of Cron Job is needed?
« on: April 30, 2009, 09:28:05 am »
None of us could get the e-mail reminders to work in version 1.3.1.  None of us knows php to do the encoding.

Why isn't this automatic?

Since my original post, I have also gone to opening Open Goo in several tabs.  Even still, the ability to back track through the previous two dozen pages would be very helpful.  "Now what was that page that I forgot to tag."

I agree with both comments.  It is nice to have an overview of sub-workspace content, but at the same time it would be nice (sometimes) to be able to only view the content of the parent workspace.

I imagine an icon next to the "refresh the view" icon that would enable/disable the viewing of sub-workspace content.

Feature requests / linking milestones
« on: April 20, 2009, 06:18:02 am »
I did a search for this and didn't see it.  Not sure if it is a bug report or a feature request.

When linking objects, OG does a wonderful job allowing filtering on multiple levels, but there is no option to filter by milestone.  Please add this.

Feature requests / Re: multiple assignees per task
« on: April 20, 2009, 06:14:50 am »
Not every business model is the same as writing computer code.  I am a printing press and want to assign three people folding papers or I am a moving company and want to assign 4 people to move a piano.  If I have 50 employees, I don't want to have to create groups to cover all of the possible combinations that might occur.  It would be easier to click on 4 names and have the task assigned to them.

I want two secretarial staff to organize the up-coming office party, but I don't want to micro-manage them, let them decide.

Maybe its personality, but I agree that this is operation critical.   :)

Ideas / Navigation issue - history
« on: March 30, 2009, 12:06:06 am »
I was in the middle of assigning a task when I needed to navigate away from page, by the time I finished that and took care of several interruptions, I can not for the life of me remember what I was doing.  I would like to click on a little button that would help me to retrace my steps.

I have searched for this feature on the forums, but do not see it, unless I am not using the correct keyword.  Does anyone else see the need for such a feature?

Feature requests / Re: WYSIWYG HTML editor for Task, and Note
« on: March 29, 2009, 07:01:42 am »
This seems to be a popular feature request.

In the Issues forum there are two threads (here and here) going that seem to overlap with this request at least in part, but they are taking a different approach

On the Sponsor a Feature page there is a place where one can sponsor
Quote
Rich text editor, bigger text box and change font size in notes.
This also seems to be a different approach.

Not sure why only Platinum sponsors can contribute.

If we allowed Silver and Gold contributions then maybe we could get this feature sooner.

Summary
Not only do we need to include the ability to increase font size, but we need indent, bullets and numbered lists in tasks, notes, and especially comments and if silver and gold contributions were available, we might get these features sooner??

Ideas / Re: Discussions
« on: March 28, 2009, 11:05:58 am »
I just posted to a thread requesting
forums.

We can already comment on notes, documents and tasks.  The problem is that the text of the comments can not be modified.  This limits the discussions to fonts whose native font size is readable in the comment box.  Unfortunately for Thai, whose native fontsize is about 1/2 of English, it doesn't appear to work.

If we still need a discussion/forum feature, which one should it be? or should we have both as both have been proposed? Or is this two words for the same thing?

Ideas / Re: Needs a Forum

This would only work if the text display of notes could be modified.  With a forum, I can change the font size, underline,
  • make lists
and all kinds of neat things.

Adding that ability to Notes would definitely make it more usable.  Currently because of the small Thai and Khmer fonts that are barely readable in notes, we have not been able to use the note feature for these languages.

Feature requests / Re: Mark Note as Private
« on: March 28, 2009, 10:27:25 am »
This definitely would be useful for us.  We have worked around it by using sub-workspaces, but ideally only people who are subscribed to a private note should be able to read it.

Feature requests / Re: Multiple assignments for one task
« on: March 28, 2009, 10:16:08 am »
Our business has just begun using Open Goo and there have been several times where we would like to assign more than one person to a job.

Similar to a family where the father says, "I want Billy and Jimmy to help each other wash the car."  We have several tasks that are assigned to a team and without micro-managing every breath, we would like to be able to assign to tasks to a multiple users.

This feature has my vote.
