Same problem. Fresh install of beta 2 on Centos 5 went fine, but when trying to log in I get this message and can't get any further.

Looking at the database, there are a number of tables that reference dimensions; these are all empty.  Based on the error message, I'm guessing we have to populate these tables manually? If so, doesn't that mean this is an alpha, not a beta?

Getting Started / Re: reporting purposes
« on: April 12, 2010, 02:29:54 am »
I'll add my vote to this one. We're starting to use Feng as our time capture software and I'd really like to have a custom report that shows actual time compared to estimated time for each task worked.

Can't figure out why there is no option to include Timeslot in custom reports - presumably having that would solve this problem, but perhaps there is a reason why Timeslot isn't there?

Feature requests / Streamline task collaboration
« on: March 24, 2010, 08:57:36 pm »
Hi

In our organisation we work collaboratively and have an informal workflow when working on tasks.

Once a task has been assigned to someone, they perform the work involved as needed. They then enter relevant time and comments about what they've done, and assign it back to the person who assigned the task to them, so the work can be reviewed. The task can then be commented on by the assignor, and either closed or assigned back to that person or to someone else to work on.

This process of reassignment requires the following steps:
1. Post a comment on the task explaining why it's being reassigned (email generated)
2. Edit the task and change who the task is assigned to (another email generated).
3. Alternatively, the task may then be closed (another email).

It would make more sense to me if you could reassign the task and enter a comment at the same time. This would generate just one email.

It would also be good if you could add a comment at the time of changing the status of the task to explain the reason why it is being closed/reopened. Once again, only one email would be generated.

I'd also like to see a task Status of "Review" alongside Pending and Complete. This would allow a quality check before the task is closed and ensure tasks don't get closed and disappear from the task view without that quality check taking place.

Thoughts?

Feature requests / Order Tasks by Last Comment Date
« on: September 22, 2009, 07:44:11 pm »
We have an Opengoo install with dozens of workspaces and tasks. Keeping on top of them all can be challenging.

I wonder if it would be possible to have an option in the Task pane to order the tasks by Last Comment Date. That way I can focus on those tasks that are "hot" right now.

Feature requests / Re: several enhancements to the comments subsystem
« on: August 31, 2009, 11:04:21 pm »
A further enhancement I'd like to see is the ability to post a comment at the same time as assigning a task to someone. This would reduce the amount of email being generated by OpenGoo and make it a lot more usable.

Currently, if I add a comment then reassign a task (a common event in our workflows), it will generate two emails, one for the comment and one for the reassignment.

It would be better if you could add a comment at the same time as reassigning the task. The comment could be circulated to all subscribers as normal, and the assignee could receive an email that says something like "Bob assigned this task to you and made this comment".

I'm not sure what you mean by "accompanying feature design". Is this some further description from me of how I'd like it to work? I'll certainly do that if that's the next step.

Great - thanks. This responsiveness is one of the reasons I love OpenGoo!

Feature requests / Set date when adding work to a task
« on: March 11, 2009, 01:38:51 am »
Hi

The Add Work button on a task allows you to book time against a task. You can enter the description and the amount of time worked. But for some reason, you can't enter the date when the time was entered. Is this something you could add, please? Some of my staff only update their time in OpenGoo every couple of days and I need the time to be entered against the correct date.

Thanks

David

Glad it makes sense! I guess the real question is whether it is something you are considering adding in a future release?

That would be good, but i wouldn't want another stream of notes to be stored with the task. We already have the Comments and the Description. To have a third place where a comment can be made on a task would reduce usability.

Would it work to do what you said, but to have the description associated with assigning the task entered as a Comment on the task, and for the comment to be prefixed with "User X reassigned this task to User Y"? For example:

Bob reassigned this task to Mary and made this comment:
Mary, I've done my bit, handing over to you for review and comment.

Similarly you could do something like the following when a task is marked Complete:

Mary marked this task complete and made this comment:
Bob, I've reviewed your work and agree the task can be marked complete.

And if it's reopened:

Bob reopened the task and made this comment:
Mary, sorry - just noticed something I didn't do quite right. Reopening so I can continue working on it.

Hopefully that makes sense? with the huge stream of notifications coming through, it would be helpful to have more contextual information provided with these actions.

Regards

David

Feature requests / Post comment and reassign in one action

At the moment, if I post on a task and reassign it to another person, I have to go through two steps (potentially generating two email notifications). It would be great if I could do this in one step, and generate just one notification.

Related to this, there appears to be no way to post a comment once you're editing a task. Is this by design? If you could post a comment while editing, my first comment becomes easy......

Me too. Doesn't appear to affect functionality.

Echoing Karl - you guys are doing a fantastic job. Opengoo is the software I've always wanted for collaborative team management. I know you're probably wanting to take a break to celebrate the 1.2 release, but I'm already busy looking forward to 1.3!

Thanks again

1.2.1 / Task assigned to template loses custom properties
« on: February 16, 2009, 08:49:03 pm »
Hi

Not sure if this is a bug or a feature request. Also don't know if it's new behaviour for RC2.

If I create a task with custom properties and assign it to a template, when using the template the task is generated but it has lost the custom properties.

Scenario is that I want to have several checkpoints for a task, so I can use a single task to emulate a workflow. Property one is "Invoice Generated" with a value of Yes or No. Property 2 is "Invoice approved, line manager". Property 3 is "Invoice Approved, Budget Holder", etc. The idea is that when a checkpoint is completed the custom property will be updated and the task manually reassigned to the next person in the workflow. It is only marked complete once the final step in the workflow is completed.

Thanks

David

Feng Office 1 / Internal server error 500, 1.2 RC1
« on: February 04, 2009, 07:40:43 pm »
When in task view, clicking a task with no start or due date causes an error. Adding either a start or end date resolves the problem. Should not have to assign either start or due date on a task therefore this appears to be a bug rather than intended functionality. Also appears to be new for 1.2 RC1. Was not happening in 1.2 beta 2.
