I give up... I've done everything mentioned in the many manuals for upgrade and clean installs. I have followed everybodies advise left and right. I'm sticking with 1.7.5 until there is a clear solution for installing the latest version.

even the clean install doesn't work for me. I'm either getting a white screen when trying to open /../../install folder or I'm getting a url back with a bunch of public/public/public. notifications in the url search bar.

Although I would love to enjoy the new features in the latest version I'm not going to risk losing everything I've got for a new version. Unfortunately running an older version of any software threatens security risks. Not to happy about that either but better then nothing I guess.

Even if I would get it installed, eventually, I'm hearing about a lot of issues and bugs still in this version so I would be to afraid to run my stuff on that now anyway.

I'll keep an eye on this forum for announcements for a little while.

Feature requests / Freshbooks integration
« on: May 27, 2012, 04:10:17 am »
Option to send time sheets to freshbooks would really make feng office great for me. Right now I'm using teamworkpm to track my time and send invoices to freshbooks free account. However, i do not like their PM system, I only use it for invoicing and time tracking. Feng Office has (almost) everything else accept freshbooks api integration/options.

Wish i knew more about api's and plugins etc because I would definitely create all the stuff I'm missing and share it along with you guys... I need a complete system customized to how I work. Probable more people are like me in this, most programs have a some features but known have them all or are unafforable for my little freelance business.

Anyway, Feng Office comes closes to what I want accept the time/invoicing and more advanced communication system internally.

For me the best thing about Feng office is the extended linking system of every piece of information between projects and tasks. I haven't seen it like this anywhere else, affordable for my budget that is.

Feng Office 2 / Re: can't edit email accounts
« on: May 27, 2012, 03:39:51 am »
Have had this issue  a few times myself. Not sure why or what but if you go into administration/email it works for me. Not in the email account / tab itself.

Development / Re: Integration of google docs?

would love to see this feature. WOuld love to see a feature so you don't have to download revisions of files period. So web viewer/editer or files you upload would be great. Also PDF.

Ideas / Re: Making Notes more Thread-like
« on: May 27, 2012, 03:29:50 am »
I'm using snippets to distinguish what note is what. I do this with tasks and everything else as well actually because I think every section should have an OPTION to create a thread like view of the content.

Anyway right now I'm using this in titles: [PROJECT][TASK][LOGIN][DISCUSSION][EMAIL] etc.

Feature requests / Turning off activity view within project/task
« on: May 27, 2012, 03:25:56 am »
when I create a task, I would love the ability to either move the activity stream below the post comments/comments or the ability to completely turn it off. It's extremely cluttered looking now, imo.

I love feng office other than a few points but nothing is perfect and of all the PM systems I've tried, this one is one of the best by far.

Another thing I would like to see is collapsing post comments within tasks. After lots of communication the page is getting really long, I dont' like that, it's in convenient. Rather a forum type discussion board associated with the task would actually be better overall.

Keep up the great work guys.

Feature requests / add multiple billing categories to 1 user
« on: May 27, 2012, 03:19:44 am »
Hi, I'm a freelancer and I have multiple clients I work for all charged a different rate.

It would be great to be able to assign 1 person multiple billing categories. I have tried to just create different fake user accounts but that is too much around the bush for me.

Thanks
Mieke

Ideas / Re: Assign to more than one person!
« on: May 27, 2012, 03:16:55 am »
How about:

1. Assigning to one person (the responsible person) and subscribing the other people?
or
2. Making multiple tasks, one for each person.
or
3. Making a task, and multiple sub-tasks

Isn't it always good to make sure who is 'responsible' for making sure the task is completed?

Subscribing is not convenient because they get an email for every little change you make, otherwise that would be good solution. In this case, assign additional people would be great.

Installation problems / install problem
« on: May 23, 2012, 03:07:04 am »
I have manually uploaded all the files to my server. When I try to install I'm getting the following error:

The page isn't redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept
    cookies.

The url is showing up like this after I execute the install url:
+++://mydomain/clients/public/install/public/public/public/public/public/public/public/public/public/public/public/public/public/public/public/public/public/public/public/public/install

How To's / Re: Frustrated with user interface
« on: May 22, 2012, 02:34:13 pm »

Hi Potion, That's exactly how I've been using it as well. At first I didn't know for sure if I liked Feng Office all that much. I"m using the community version as well btw.

But, with a little thinking on how I actually want my stuff to be organized, I came up with the exact same system as you've described and i'm loving it.

Unfortunately, there is not one system exactly how you want it. I've been thinking about creating my own but have to learn how to program first which I'm actually working on educating myself on right now because I really want something that has everything I need and something I feel comfortable with when sending my clients to review the progress of their projects.

Many clients do not want to use your PM system so it has to be easy and quick to see what they've got while being a user of my system.

For the time being, I'm sticking with Feng Office. I started using it last week. I did find one very inconvenient matter for me and that is that you can not assign multiple billing categories to a user.

I'm a freelancer so I work for multiple clients each having a different rate. I haven't figured out how to make this work without having to create a bunch of fake users and having to login and out for each billign profile all day long.

If anybody has an idea? Please advise on this.

Also, what I'm missing is a connection to Freshbooks. I would love to be able to sent my time/invoice to freshbooks. I use somethign else for billing and invoicing right now. It's a PM system but I don't like the way things are organized. Feng Office is definitely better at that but doesn't have the invoicing incorporated with Freshbooks and I can't assign multiple billing categories to one user.

Another thing I can't get fixed is the actual upload size for files. I have changed my php.ini and .htaccess to accept larger file uploads but it doesn't seem to work whatsoever. Any ideas?

And a style editor would be a great option. Maybe the paid version has this incorporated I don't know but I'm missing it in the community version.

So, I keep looking to find that one perfect PM system. Doubt I'll find it unless I'll create it myself though.

Any suggestions on how to add multiple billing categories to a user and invoicing are welcome for sure.

Thanks
Mieke

How To's / Multiple Billing Categories Per User
« on: May 22, 2012, 02:18:37 pm »
Hi, I'm a freelancer and I have multiple clients I work for all charged a different rate. Is it possible to somehow add multiple billing categories to 1 user?

How would I do this or what can I do to make this happen? I love Feng Office but this is the only downfall.  I don't want to have to create a bunch of fake users and having to sign in and out of those profiles each time I switch a project.

Thanks for your help.
Mieke
