Installation problems / How to upgrade form 1.6.2 to 1.7.5?

I have to upgrade Feng Office version 1.6.2. Upgrading instructions say that I have to upgrade to 1.7.5 first.

I followed procedure of replacing files but when I finally start upgrade procedure it says there is no path to upgrade from 1.6.2 to 1.7.5.

After some search I found out that upgrade has to download upgrade instructions from http://www.fengoffice.com/versions.xml. It seems that file does not exist on FengOffice site any more and upgrade is unable to continue.

I am stuck here.

How can I handle this and finish upgrade?

I did try to upload as document, and it works but still, I cannot include uploaded image as an image within note.

I tried to insert html img code but it does not work. Feng filters out all html from notes.

I need to insert image into note.

All I can find is to upload image as an object and then attach it to the note. But, that does not display image. I need image to be displayed within a note as that is schematics note is talking about.

It should work but problem is that FengOffice for some reason insists to use address and port set in it's config.

So, you have to open config/config.php and change value of ROOT_URL to match new port.

I made these suggestions as since day one of use of FengOffice we noticed that notifications are overwhelming.

Ther eis simply too much email which is mostly, not even infoamtive as it does not even report exact cause of notification.

For the worse, it reports every single issue, no matter of importance. It even reports when admin deleted object from trash which is totally unnecessary.

After bad experience upgrading from 1.6.2 to 1.7.2 I want to downgrade to be able to work.

I have backup of the state before I upgraded, but since I upgraded we already used FengOffice before we realized that there is problem. I cannot run from backup as I would loose data.

What I have to do to make 1.6.2 run on top of this?

I have problem with sending mail since I upgraded to 1.7.2

Tool Test mail settings shows error, and also notifications do not work.

I get the error:

I tried commenting out line 708 in application/models/notifier/Notifier.class.php (  //$mailer->close(); ) bit it did not help.

When I tried to replace swoft library with one from 1.6.2 I got error

Fatal error: Class 'Swift_SmtpTransport' not found in C:\www\poslovi.infosys.rs\application\models\notifier\Notifier.class.php on line 749


With notifications I have different problem.

First, afer update, running cron.php is broken. SCript shows no message, returns just an empty page. Notification mails are not sent.

On my test server, i tried same thing. There, cron.php returns status messages, but if it tries to send email it shows this error

After I commented out $mailer->close(); in application/models/notifier/Notifier.class.php as suggested this error is gone. However. cron.php reports there are no notification messages to be sent, although there are mails in table og_queued_emails waiting to be sent.


So, I am stuck.

What to do next?

While looking for a solution I found out several topics on similar problems and in each it was said that bug is fixed for next version. Which version it si 1.7.3? When will it be available?

Can we get fix for current version as this is urgent problem? Notifications do not work at all.

With not much users on Feng Office we already have hell with too much email notifications.

It is neccessary toprovide means to hanle these notifications.


- there should be an option to check which type of notifications user wants to receive

- there should be an option for user to select notifications by Workspace,  Tag, object type, creator, subscription state etc...

- there should be an option to receive summary of notifications in one email instead of single email for each notification event

- there should be an option to group nortifications by object so if there are several notification for single object, there is just one email

- there should be an option to delay notifications, instead of imediate sending. That would allow notifications to be summarizes in single email. For example, user may set to receive notfications each hoyur, so he would get singe email containing all notifications within that hour.

I am sure, it would be easy to thing of more ways to solve this problem with too much email notifications.

when one has custom transaltion for FengOffice and then makes upgrade, number of new items that are not transalted show up. FengOffice shows error message for such items.

This makes things like a horor as translationis tiem consuming, so updates site is pretty much unusable.

There are two way to handle this:

1 - make FengOffice load english definition for an item, and display it instead of error. It would at least provide some functionality until transaltion is done

2 - make new option in Feng Office's translation tool  to fill in al missing items with original english terms. that would also mean that there is need to be able to filter out items which are filled in but not translated. Now, there is only filter for missing items.

I noticed nothing strange in Apache log. I also tried with very small files (few kilobytes) with the same results.

However, few days later, problem vanished. Upload works OK. I did not even restart server or computer.

SOmething strange happened today. noone can upload files as Documents.
Server configuration was not changed a bit.

When user posts upload Ajax cursos is showsn and that is all, no errors no nothing. After some time, cursor wanishes, uploadin dialog is still there and that is it.

When i check tmp folder, I can find file uploaded. For some reason, uploading process stops there. File is not moved to upload, not database populated.

This is not a problem of PHP upload settings. Nothing in serer configuration changed since yesterday, when it worked. There is alos more than enogh free space for file storage.

Ajax shows nothing, log is empty, and even php does not show any error. It just silently does not work.

How can I check what is the problem?

No problem. Note that I did not ask anyone to pay me for that.

How did you manage permissions? Are users with read-only access able to auto-assign tasks and complete them?

I did not mess with permissions. Originaly, user is offered to Complete task, so if he can Complete, I had no need to change his permissions, as he certainly should be able to Assign task to himself.

PS: Answering your questions on payment. Read this post, and pay special attention to the three bullets at the end.

There was no need to point it out. It is already clear that FengOffice stuff is not quite wiling to help until they are hired to.

I really don't understand why you need to change the code. I do it all the time but with FO as is.

It is because as it works by default is not useful for me. I do not want to harras peopel asking them to have row of clicks to get to the point where they can assign task to themselves. I wanted it done in one click, so I made it.

Also I do not see point in allowing someone to mark task as Completed even if it is not assigned not just to him, but noone else. So, I replaced Completed with Assign button.

Another idea that can help you is use "Client companies" as departments.

We do not have departments, We have teams, and usualy one person belongs to several teams. Thus we cannot use companies, as they do not allow such organization.

Need for personal messaging within FengOffice has nothing to do with email, at first, because FongOffice may use workspaces and tags to tag personall mesages.

Email is independent service which cannot be properly integrated in FengOfice functionality.
