How To's / Fail-over for FO
« on: March 07, 2011, 01:24:58 am »
I am designing a fail-over plan.

My plan is installing FengOffice in Machine A and Machine B and setup MySQL Cluster in both machines. Machine A is the master and Machine B is the backup in case of Machine A failure.

If the documents can store separately, I would like to store the documents in Machine C. Then, I can setup some backup procedures for the actual documents. No matter Machine A or Machine B also can retrieve the documents in Machine C.

As using MySQL Cluster can only protect the data stored in database, thus, I hope the documents can save in another location.

Is it possible?

And FengOffice recommends using MySQL with InnoDB. However, if I would like to use MySQL cluster 7.1.X, it seems to be not supporting InnoDB? Please help, any suggestion?

How To's / Open PDF file in FengOffice
« on: February 18, 2011, 06:35:00 am »
I found that the behaviour to open PDF file using FengOffice in different browsers are different.

===================================================================
Web BrowserOpen file from list viewOpen file from Actions list inside the document detail page
IE 8Prompt for open or save.
If Adobe Reader has not open before, choose "Open" and the PDF file will open in the same window but nothing display. Otherwise, the PDF will open in the Adobe Reader.
Prompt for open or save.

Google ChromeAsk user to save the file first.
Then, use Adobe Reader to open the PDF file.

As our users use IE as their default web browser, how can I solve the file open problem? We cannot require users to open Adobe Reader first every times when they would like to open a PDF file from FengOffice.

How To's / Email notification
« on: February 18, 2011, 06:13:36 am »
Currently, when I update a record in FengOffice. All the subscribers will receive an email notification. Which means, if the record updates 20 times in the moring, other subscribers will receive 20 email notifications.

It is quite annoying if I have subscribed to many different information.
In FengOffice, is it possible to set the email notification as a batch? For example, hourly or daily basis to send out email notification?

General Discussion / Database Limitation?
« on: January 24, 2011, 01:13:42 am »
Hi,

FengOffice is a nice document management system, however, for long term use, I have concerned about the database storage limitation. Any existing users could give me a sample of figure how much FengOffice can support?

How FengOffice store the data? Will the data and documents save separated in two different servers?

For the database, except MySQL. Any other databases supported by FengOffice?
e.g. MSSQL Server, PostgreSQL

How To's / Advanced Search
« on: January 03, 2011, 04:36:33 am »
Hi,

Does Feng Office provide Advanced Search? e.g. like google advanced search, user can search the words by AND / OR / NOR, by check-in time, by file type, by custom attributes, by categories, etc...

Also, is it possible to save the search template in Feng Office on user basis?

Installation problems / Database
« on: January 03, 2011, 01:00:32 am »
Hi,

For the database, except MySQL. Any other databases supported by FengOffice?
e.g. MSSQL Server

And any limitation of Feng Office to handle data storage size? e.g. There are more than 20TB documents and email records for 200-300 users. Could Feng Office support  huge amount of data and users concurrently? What are the minimum hardware requirements to guaranteed the performance of the system in this case?
