: User Time Tracking

Hi,

It will very useful if OpenGoo has a feature that an Admin can keep track of the total time spent on each workspace by users of that workspace. What I've been thinking about is that Admin can filter the total time spent on a certain workspace by users monthly or weekly. It's just an idea :

workspace 1 :

for a user :

User   |   Date             |     Time                  | Total
aaaa      2009/01/01      0800-0900       1 hr
aaaa       200901/01       1000-1230      2 hr 30 mn
aaaa      200901/02       1000-1230        2 hr 30 mn

total working time for aaaa as of 2009/01/01 = 6 hrs

Some kind of report :

workspace 1 :

aaaa        6 hrs
bbbb        5 hrs
ccccc       4 hrs

Total working time for worksapce 1 as of 2009/01/01 = 15 hr

Please excuse me if it's already posted somewhere or you can achieve sth like this in the current version already.

Any suggestion ?

Thank.

Yes, it is a nice idea. We have been requested something to keep track of time spent viewing each object. The problem I see with both requests is how to measure time accurately. When are you using OpenGoo and when is your session open but inactive?

Thanks for the feature request.

Thanks for the reply. It's just that we'd like the user to report their time spent each object or workspace not about how to measure time accurately. We are really concerned about the time when it comes to collaboration like this.  :)

yea, how would something like this work?

I actually keep (at least) two tabs open to OpenGoo in my browser... one is pretty much always on a specific project because I spend so much of my day on that project right now, the other browser window I use to shift around to other stuff as needed.

There are spans of an hour or so where I may not be doing anything "in" OpenGoo, but both tabs are open.

Rob's case is a clear example of why this feature would be very hard to get right, and it will probably serve a little portion of the users.

As Ignacio said, it is not the first time we got this request though.

@bayonian: How would you use the information, knowing that it will most probably be inaccurate?

We'd like to give users an option to report on how much time they've been spending on their project. It's more like a report time-based feature not to get an accurate time log which is done automatically.

I hope that will be similar feature for Report. Thanks for your reply.

What value do they get from that report, if it is not accurate?

Then I can simple put it this way It's just like user can have their session of OpenGoo open and active but they don't do the job.

It's not a question of honesty and integrity of an employee. It's just that we'd like to have that feature as an option for them to report in.

Thanks for your reply.
