: Translate opengoo interface system with community support
: Murz November 22, 2009, 05:30:35 AM
What system does used now for support translating opengoo to other languages? I have found no info on the site about this.

I use OpenGoo very often with Russian language in work. And very often I find some untranslated strings or translate errors. I have know English and can help to improve russian translation.

But I didn't know how to post my suggestions for translating. Posts in forum are very uncomfortably.

If no system for community support translation is used now, maybe better to use it in future? You can use something like http://translations.launchpad.net/

Portal translations.launchpad.net is not only for ubuntu/linux projects, many other software developers use it for translate their applications:
https://launchpad.net/bitcomet
https://launchpad.net/impress
https://launchpad.net/netbeans
and many others.

that's a good idea, the current way of translating is quite good but. I noticed that after a few hundred lines of translation it becomes quite hard.

But if everyone that tries to translate will contribute a few hundred lines of translations, the translation of many languages will be accomplished easily.

I already worked with the launch pad in the past, it was pretty easy and intuitive to contribute.

If I create a new version of full translation, thouse methods are good.
But if I have found some errors or mistakes into one or two phrases in translation, uploading the full package is too long and hard process for several user to suggest only my variant of one-tow phrases. And it is too hard to synchronize two different files, when, for example, one part translated better in first file, another - in second. In modern translations systems you can register via web, find the wrong phrase, suggest you translation and community (or moderators) can apply or decline it, or users can vote for your variant of translation.
