: POP email error?
: Bluemoon562 November 13, 2009, 12:32:46 AM
I have my domain name forwarded to a POP email account.   Now I'm trying to set up my email account on OpenGoo.

I plugged in incoming and Outgoing settings - everything is correct.  But when I click on "Check emails", I get:

Error: Email retrieval complete: 0 emails received.Error checking account 'email account': Generic login error

When I try to send an email, I get:
Error: Error while sending mail. Possibly wrong SMTP settings.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?  ???

Edit config/config.php and set DEBUG to true, then look in the cache/log.php file to see more specific error.

Perhaps paste it in here?

Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm going to change the forwarding email to a Gmail account and try plugging that in and see how it goes.

If I have trouble with that account as well, I'll try your suggestion and will post an update.

I'm still having the same problem and it's with both the gmail account and my regular POP email account.  (I have Gmail set up as POP.)

I tried the suggestions on here but they didn't work.

My error log looks similar to the one posted by andyinGB.

I suspect that it has something to do with the server's capabilities or lack thereof.  Not sure what settings need to be altered to make it work.

I did have equal problems with e-mail from the domain OG was installed on. Stranger was that it worked before, even with imap and SSL (OG 1.5.3).

Errors it gave me: using pop3 without SSL; generic login error.
Using IMAP with SSL; connection time out error (if I remember right this was caused by using SSL).

It looked like my provider did something to the fsockopen support.

I did solve this by using localhost (127.0.0.1) as both the POP and SMTP server (still on 1.5.3), and now I'm able to receive and send again.

Hope this may help others! (Won't solve Gmail problems, unless you forward gmail to your own domain and still have problems)

Has anyone tried making money on Shopify, what is the best way to do it. I want to try making money there, start selling products or dropshipping.
