Hi, I'm a freelancer and I have multiple clients I work for all charged a different rate.
It would be great to be able to assign 1 person multiple billing categories. I have tried to just create different fake user accounts but that is too much around the bush for me.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in earlier versions of the community edition billing categories were not tied to users but an independent attribute of a task. Why was it changed in version 3 and how hard would it be to put back?

Hmm I am afraid that biliing categories have always been related to users, not to tasks.
What you may do though is change the timeslot and add a specific value to it.
